Gunfight rages in Rafiabad village, Jaish commander believed to be trapped | KNO

Gunshots were heard soon after Government forces launched a Cordon and search operation in Ladoora Rafiabad of north Kashmir's Baramulla district. As per preliminary reports, Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) commander Khalid is believed to be trapped.

According to sources Khalid was injured in the initial exchange of fire.

The forces had launched the search operation after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

As the search operation was intensified, the hiding militants opened fire on the forces, triggering a gun battle. The exchange of fire was going on when the last reports came in.

More details are awaited.
